Delegates host delegates

Local hosts providing a private accommodation
for colleagues from developing countries, students, persons with lived experience

We aim to make it easier for delegates from low- and middle-income countries, students and persons with lived experience to attend the upcoming ISPS congress — even when financial resources are limited. To support this goal, we are looking for local delegates or families who are willing to open their homes and host a visiting colleague during the event.

If you are interested in becoming a host or are seeking accommodation, please read the following information carefully and fill out the according form.

Become a host

Why become a host

Welcoming an international guest can be a rewarding and enriching experience. As a host, you can:

  • Build meaningful international connections and lifelong friendships
  • Provide a safe, welcoming environment for colleagues with limited travel experience
  • Help make conference participation more affordable for guests who cannot cover hotel costs
  • Support ISPS in their mission to include as many delegates as possible from diverse regions and socioeconomic backgrounds

Who can become a host?

Local delegates and their families with a spare room or space to accommodate a guest are warmly invited to participate.
International visitors may be traveling far from home for the first time and appreciate a supportive and personal environment.

As a host, we ask that you:

  • Welcome your guest as part of your household
  • Clearly communicate your expectations and house rules, and agree on basic arrangements in advance
  • Offer guidance on how to use public transport to reach the congress venue

You are looking for a private accommodation

This initiative prioritizes guests from low- and middle-income countries, students and persons with lived experience. Please note that submitting a request does not guarantee that a suitable host will be found.

As a guest, you acknowledge the house rules of your host and will:

  • Show gratitude and respect to the host for opening their home
  • Treat the property with respect and leave it as found;
  • Understand that insurance and liability are the responsibility of the host, and that any personal risk is assumed by the guest

 Process

ISPS will help facilitate the matching process by connecting potential hosts and guests.
However, all accommodation arrangements and communication beyond the initial introduction will be managed directly between the host and guest. ISPS is not responsible for the outcomes of the hosting arrangement. ISPS will review applications regularly and introduce matching hosts and guests via email so that they can discuss details directly.
