Information and guidelines

 

Types of presentation

Individual Oral Presentation

Several (5) oral presentations will be grouped together with other related talks in parallel sessions. The slots will be assigned by the program committee.

Duration: 15 minutes plus 3 minutes Q&A
Form: The talk should reflect your work’s key findings and convey them to the audience in an engaging way.

Symposium Session

If you would like to present an entire thematic session, which comprises four individual presentations, you may submit a symposium (session). 

*in case a symposium is submitted with less than 4 orals, individual oral presentations according to matching topics might be allocated to your symposium.

Duration: 90 minutes, chaired symposium with 4 sub-contributions.
4 presentations by 15 minutes each with a 3 minutes discussion
Form: The submitting person indicates the theme, overall abstract, names of other presenters and chair(s), as well as all information of the sub-contributions.

Workshops

Workshops should invite participants to take an active part and convey practical content in an appealing way. They can be organised by an individual or a group.

Duration: 90 minutes oral presentation incl. questions and interactions by the audience
Form: While there are no rules on how to hold a workshop, it should be as interactive as possible, actively engaging participants.

Poster

Posters are a compact way to display scientific results. The conference agenda includes time for participants to visit the poster exhibitions. The presenting author is required to be present during the poster sessions (and thus also to register for the event).

Format: Printed poster in portrait format A0 (841 x 1189 mm)
Structure: Information in brief written and graphic form, e.g. with photographs, drawings, graphics and diagrams.

Meet the author(s)

Presentation about your book/publication about relevant ISPS topics with short discussion with the audience. Three to four book presentations will be grouped to a meet the authors session. Your publication should be recent and date no longer than four years since publication. 

Duration: 20-30 min
Format: Short insight to your publication reflecting why this work is important to the ISPS and pointing out the take home message of the book.

Guidelines for submission

General information

  • Contributions must be submitted throught the online submission platform.
  • All submissions must be entered in English.*
  • Once accepted, contributions must be presented in English.
  • All submissions will be evaluated in anonymised form (i.e. without author information) by our scientific committee.
  • All submitters, authors, and presenters are solely responsible for the content of their contribution and agree to comply with applicable data protection and copyright regulations.

*However if you feel not comfortable to present in english, feel free to submit anyways and inform us about your preferred presentation language in case of acceptance. Language barriers should not be an impediment to submission.

 

Author information

Please provide complete and accurate information on all contributing authors.
This includes the full name, institution/organisation, location and email address of every (co-)author.
The person making the submission is wholly responsible for the accuracy of the information.
A maximum of 10 authors can be entered for each abstract. (If there are more than 10 authors, please limit the list to the 10 main contributors.)

 

Presenting author

Every submission must name at least one presenting author. In case the contribution is accepted, the presenting author must register for the congress in advance using the email address already provided during the submission.

 

Submitting contributions (as individual oral presentations, workshops or posters)

  • Abstracts must not exceed 2,500 characters (including spaces).
  • Please structure your abstract as follows: Introduction | Methods | Outcome | Conclusion
  • To ensure the best possible presentation of your abstract when it is published, please avoid any unnecessary formatting.
  • Please check all information thoroughly before submitting, as all information pertaining to your contribution will be published as submitted.

 

Submitting sessions (as Symposium, Meet the author)

When submitting a session, please include the following information:

A) General information

  • Title (of the session)
  • Subject area
  • Short summary (max. 1,000 characters incl. spaces)
  • Main Chair
  • Co-chairs (optional)

B) sub-presentations

  • A maximum of 5 individual talks may be submitted per session, the organizing submitter.
  • Abstracts for individual talks must not exceed 2,500 characters (including spaces).
  • To ensure the best possible presentation of your abstract when it is published, please avoid any unnecessary formatting.
  • Please check all information thoroughly before submitting, as all information pertaining to your contribution will be published as submitted.

Evaluation

Contributions will be anonymised before being evaluated by the expert group appointed by the scientific programme committee. Each contribution will be evaluated separately by several experts.The scientific programme committee will select contributions for acceptance in a final round of evaluation based on the expert evaluations. The decisions are final.



Publication

Submitted contributions can be used for: 

  • online evaluation
  • the committee’s selection meeting
  • publication of the abstract on the event website and relevant platforms
  • publication in scientific journals
  • publication of the documents in event-specific printed material, e.g. in the event programme

 


Attending the congress

All presenting authors of accepted contribution must attend the event. Please note that presenting authors must complete their registration prior to the congress, by a specific deadline (TBA). Registration must be completed using the account already created for the submission.

Discounts

Please note that there is no discount available for presenters of accepted contributions.
